Dr. Ian Skinner was born in St. Anthony, Newfoundland and Labrador and grew up on the west coast of the island in Corner Brook. Dr. Skinner completed a Bachelors of Kinesiology (Honours) in St. John’s at Memorial University before moving to Toronto to attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) where he completed his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree.
Dr. Skinner loved to play various sports growing up, especially hockey. He had the opportunity to continue playing competitive hockey which brought him across Canada to Saskatchewan and Ontario. It was through his love of sports that brought along injuries for which he received exceptional care through chiropractic. The chiropractic care he received provided effective relief and also portrayed a patient centered approach that can have a major positive impact with each and every patient. This is what helped him decide on a future in chiropractic.
Dr. Skinner believes in an evidence based, patient-centered, hands-on approach which includes manipulation/mobilization, soft tissue therapy, integrated dry needling, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, structured patient education and active rehabilitation. He also understands that the field of chiropractic is constantly evolving, and he remains dedicated to staying up to date with the latest research and guidelines. By integrating the best available evidence, he ensures that each patient receives safe, effective, and tailored care.
During his leisure hours, he enjoys playing sports such as hockey and golf, and loves to spend time with family and friends.
